 Atmel 公司的ATA6870是锂离子和NiMH多个电池组测量和监测电路,它采用12位ADC来监测电池电压和电池温度,还提供每个电池平衡充电能力。此外还集成线性稳压器,以便给MCU或外接元件供电。可处理多达16个电路(96个电池)的监测。主要用在电动汽车和混合动力汽车。本文介绍ATA6870主要特性,方框图,应用电路以及用来管理锂离子/NiMH电池的评估板方框图和电路图。

The ATA6870 is a measurement and monitoring circuit designed for Li-ion and NiMH multicell battery stacks in hybrid electrical vehicles.

The ATA6870 monitors the battery-cell voltage and the battery-cell temperature with a 12-bit ADC.

The circuit also provides charge-balancing capability for each battery-cell. In addition, a linear regulator is integrated to supply a microcontroller or other external components. Reliable communication between stacked ICs is achieved by level-shifters with current sources. The ATA6870 can be connected to three, four, five or six battery-cells. Up to 16 circuits (96 cells) can be cascaded in one string. The number of strings is not limited.

The ATA6870 evaluation board for Li-Ion/NiMH Battery Management applications. The evaluation kit consists of two boards:

• Evaluation board with ATA6870 and external MOSFETs for charge balancing

• Controller board with the microcontroller ATmega128 For a comfortable control of the evaluation board, a graphical user interface is available.
